The Solar Eclipse

The solar eclipse is one of many natural phenomenon in our universe. For many centuries, many people from all over the world have different comments and interpretations about the solar eclipse because of its astonishing and rare appearance. Solar eclipse happens when the elements; Sun, Moon, and Earth, are in straight line. Therefore from the earth, it seems that the moon is covered by the sun and the result is stunning natural scenery here on earth.
IMAX: Solarmax [Blu-ray]The principle of solar eclipse is simple; it’s based on the theory of umbra and penumbra. When the moon is in line with the sun and earth, it creates a dark shadow (umbra) over the earth because the sunlight is blocked by the presence of the moon, in result to total solar eclipse. However it also creates lighter shadow (penumbra) which is located around the edge of the moon, in result to partial solar eclipse. On the other hand, when a location on earth which located in line with the umbra but the distance is too far with the tip of umbra, the result is annular solar eclipse. For this reason, the types of solar eclipse vary upon the location of the moon’s umbra and penumbra on earth surface.
